WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR CLOTHING STYLE?
Retro Chic. I really like the styles from the ‘60s and ‘70s. I realized recently that I have a lot of black and grey in my closet. And khaki and white for summer. I want to incorporate more color.
I shop at Banana Republic, LVL X (Level 10), H & M in Indianapolis and Anthropologie. I always want to shop when we go out of town. I don’t shop online. |

TW: YOU HAVE GREAT SKIN. WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE?
RENITA:I hate to admit this, but I just use soap and water. I wash my face with Mia Bella Gourmet Cleansing Bar, a soy soap. And I just started using a moisturizer. One that my daughter had — Oil of Olay, I think. I have never had a facial. |
 |
TW: WHICH HAIRSTYLE IS YOUR GO-TO ONE?
RENITA:I wear my hair mid-length. I love it pulled straight back off my face. I get my hair done usually once a week at Ultimate Touch Salon on Brownsboro Road. Sometimes I just let it go naturally curly and use styling foams and curling gels.
(Laughs.) I style it according to my need for color touch-ups. |

TW: YOUR MAKEUP IS FLAWLESS. WHAT BRAND DO YOU USE?
RENITA: MAC. My complexion is difficult to match, and I can’t use just any foundation. MAC is perfect for me — foundation, blush, lipstick, eyeliner, and eyeshadow.
The colors are more vibrant, and they have a large selection. I tend to go for the teals and purples and gold eye shadows. My mom was a girly-girl, and I have been wearing makeup since I was 16. I learned through trial and error. I sometimes may have looked like Mimi on Drew Carey, but really, I believe that less is better. |
 |
TW: DARE I MENTION SHOES?
RENITA: I am not a major shoe person. I don’t like to spend much on shoes. I am most comfortable in a shoe with a platform and heavier heel. Not pumps. They are hard to walk in. And not stiletto heels either. Peep toe shoes usually have a platform and are comfortable. Nordstrom’s has a fabulous shoe collection. Carlos Santana has great colors. And I like the Jessica Simpson collection. |
 |
TW: WHAT ABOUT YOUR CHOICE OF ACCESSORIES?
RENITA: I like retro-looking bracelets and earrings. Metal on Mellwood has a great collection of jewelry. Scout on Market Street has wonderful hats that are invaluable for a bad hair day. And Betsey Johnson jewelry is fun and quirky.
I wear gold, silver, colors, and animal print jewelry. I don’t do small earrings. The longer, the better. |
